Oberg Filters and Guardex Lubes have many applications in the Oil & Gas industry from  engine filters and lubes to Oberg Filter manifolds.

The pumpjack engine (left photo) used Guardex Stationary engine oil with the Oberg Filter and ran for 24 hours a day for 13 months without being shut down. The engine had previously used 2 litres of oil a day. With the use of Guardex oil we reduced that to 2 litres a week.

A 4 unit Oberg manifold (left photo) is applied to the 7042 Waukesha.

This 4 unit Oberg Filter manifold (below left photo) installed at the BP Resources Sullivan Lake Gas Plant paid out in less 6 than months.

Many Oberg Filters are in operation today saving money, down time, and protecting the environment.

Guardex Cisol BD-501 is an organic solvent (citrus oil) with added surfactants, formulated to mix with water. Contains no phosphates. It is non-corrosive, non-caustic and non-acidic. The concentrate will attack some forms of rubber, plastics and paints, and these should be tested prior to it's use.

Guardex Penlube "E" was originally designed to aid the operators in the oilpatch. Guardex was asked by various companies to help them with clean-up of wellhead bolts, baked on bitumen, combined with sand, silt, and general rust and corrosion, thus Penlube "E" was originated. It is designed to penetrate the bitumen, dirt, and rust to lay down a film of oil to aid in the removal of wellhead bolts.

Guardex Stuffing Box Oil is a specially formulated lubricant, designed as a rod and packing lubricant for both centrifugal and reciprocation action pumps and equipment. The additives in Guardex Stuffing Box Oil breaks down and controls wax and varnish build-up, while providing a superior film of lubricant on the rod surface. Guardex Stuffing Box Oil lubricates and prolongs the service period of packing and seals, while anti-corrosion additives help combat environmental corrosion such as H2S or salt water.

Recommended Uses
Guardex Stuffing Box Oil is recommended for use in all drip oilers or tank oil systems, for lubrication of pump rods and packing.

Advantages
  •  Superior lubrication
  •  Eliminates wax and varnish build-up on rods
  •  Extends packing life
  •  Equally effective on reciprocating and centrifugal rods
  •  Combats corrosion (eg. H2S, salt water, etc.)
  •  Extend life of equipment

Most produced Water Injection Pumps are being Lubricated with Oil that was designed for something else such as Canola Oil and Rock Bit Drill Oil using 35-40 Drips, causing Stuffing Box Packing to wear out prematurely, which causes more down time and expense to replace the packing. Now a product has been made especially for this purpose. Guardex Stuffing Box Oil, which can be usually set to 9-12 drips. With Guardex Stuffing Box Oil you will use much less oil and you will also save on lost production due to down time caused by premature wear due to products that were never intended to be used to lubricate stuffing boxes. Please see the report from a Talisman test - Canola Oil versus Guardex Stuffing Box Oil and the accompanying graph.

    To Whom it may concern;

The test (graph below) was conducted by Maurice Girard of Talisman Energy Inc., Chauvin, Alberta. The test duration was 12 months and invloved 1 National Oil Well. J275L, 2 J165M and 1 Oil Well A334. Reciprocating Plunger Pumps at 2 water injection plants in the Chauvin area. The test was to determine the total cost of Guardex's E.C.L. Stuffing Box oil versus Canola oil as a lubricant and the labour and maintenance cost associated with the use of both lubricants. Even though the Canola oil cost was half the cost Guardex's E.C.L. Stuffing Box Oil, Guardex E.C.L. Stuffing Box oil came out the clear winner with a cost saving factor of $20,599.00 in total. The graph also shows the maintenance to the pumps in man hours was 53 hours for Guardex's Stuffing Box Oil versus 117 hours for the Canola oil, which means less down time.

Talisman Energy Inc., or B.P. Canada Inc. as it was previously called, have been using Guardex Stuffing Box Oil since 1988. They have tried other lubricants but tests always indicate that Guardex's Stuffing Box Oil outperforms and saves in maintenance costs and down time.

The savings over this period of $20,599.00 is a significant reason for oil patch operators to give Guardex E.C.L. Stuffing Box Oil a try. For further information call C. "Len" Bridger at Guardex Lubes Inc. (403) 279-6470.

Maurie Girard of Talisman has compaired Guardex Stuffing Box Oil to other lubricants and always Guardex comes out the winner as the overall cost is much lower with less down time.

Guardex Stuffing Box Oil is available in 20L pails and 205L barrels.

    Sincerely,

    C Len Bridger
